Westway CT's History

Westway Community Transport (formerly Kensington & Chelsea Community Transport) was set up in 1991 to provide safe, affordable and accessible transport to community groups, voluntary organisations and individuals living or working in the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea.

Over the years we have grown to become one of the biggest independent Community Transport providers in London, with over 500 local groups as registered members.

The Community Car Scheme was established in 1994 as a direct reponse to requests from individuals with mobility difficulties. In 1996 Westway CT moved to its headquarters in Acklam Road after successfully raising funds.

The K&C Shopper launched in 1997, and the Westminster Shopper in 2000, both schemes now between them provide over 11,000 journeys each year.

Westway CT always aims to work at the heart of the community.

Westway Community Transport Limited is an exempt charity registered with the FSA as an Industrial & Provident Society no.27317R.
